Answers to common questions from the public about who funds DISCOVER-ME, how it’s run, and what it hopes to achieve.
DISCOVER-ME is funded by the European Union through the Horizon Europe programme, under the theme “Tackling high-burden for patients and under-researched medical conditions”.
The project is coordinated by the Medical University of Vienna and delivered through a consortium of more than 20 partner institutions across Europe and Canada.
The consortium brings together universities, research institutes and patient organisations, including Imperial College London, Uppsala University, the University of Galway, CNRS and the Quadram Institute, among others.
DISCOVER-ME is scheduled to run for four years.
ME/CFS is a chronic, severely debilitating condition still diagnosed on clinical criteria alone, with no validated biomarkers available. DISCOVER-ME aims to establish the biological foundations needed for improved, subgroup-specific diagnostics and targeted treatment strategies.
