Structure, roles and oversight
DISCOVER-ME brings together researchers, clinicians, people with ME/CFS and patient organisations across Europe to investigate the biological mechanisms of ME/CFS and translate new knowledge into clinically meaningful outcomes.
DISCOVER-ME is coordinated by the Medical University of Vienna (MUVienna), with Professor Eva Untersmayr-Elsenhuber as Project Coordinator.
The project’s governance is structured through two main bodies. The General Assembly is made up of one representative from each beneficiary organisation, providing consortium-wide oversight. The Executive Board consists of the Coordinator, the leaders of Work Packages 3, 4, 5, 6, and 9, and the leaders of specific tasks within Work Packages 2 and 8.
An independent Ethics Advisor provides oversight on ethical matters across the consortium.

DISCOVER-ME runs from July 2026 to June 2030, funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe programme under grant agreement No 101287766.
